Freezing Rain Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Western Kenai Peninsula

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, November 22nd, through 11 a.m. Thursday, November 23rd, for the Western Kenai Peninsula including the cites of Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, and Cooper Landing.

 

According to the the National Weather Service, Freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations of a light glaze. Periods of light freezing rain are expected from this evening through Thursday morning before temperatures warm above freezing. The best chance for freezing rain is along the Sterling Highway from Sterling to north of Anchor Point.

 

Plan on very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute.

 

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.
