#CardStreetFire Update:
Four crews from the Card Street Fire were dispatched yesterday to some of the other 317 fires burning in Alaska.
Division of Forestry’s Andy Alexandrou said 28 new fires were reported throughout the state just Thursday, most caused by lightning.
Alexandrou: “As resources become available from the Card [Street] Fire, they are being sent elsewhere.”
As for the Card Street Fire…
Alexandrou: “It’s 40% contained, there’s 357 people on it from the 427 people two days ago.”
The Card Street Fire estimated acreage burnt increased to 8,876 since yesterday but Alexandrou said that was just the division fine tuning how much burnt during the burnout operation Wednesday to connect fire lines on the southeast side of the fire.
