Looking to build on a trio of victories in the second week of the high school football regular season, Nikiski, Kenai and Soldotna football programs will be tested in week three in divisional pairings; the Kardinals and the Stars facing possible playoff opponents with match-ups against Palmer and Lathrop.
All three games involving central peninsula football will be Friday night games on August 24th.

The Bulldogs, from the Peninsula Conference, host Joe Redington, from the Aurora Conference, in a Friday night showdown at Nikiski between teams from Alaska football’s Division III.
Friday’s contest is set for a 5 p.m. start time.
Nikiski amassed over 400 rushing yards in a 48-28 victory over Valdez in week two. The Bulldogs are 1-1 on the regular season with a road loss to 2017 Division III state champion Barrow.
Kenai vs Palmer @ KCHS 6:30 p.m. KSRM 920AM and www.radiokenai.com
The Kenai Kardinals dismantled the 2017 Division III runner-up Homer Mariners 58-6 in the second game of the regular season and now will face in week three the runner-up from the 2017 Division II state football championships, the Palmer Moose.
Friday’s contest is scheduled for 6:30 at KCHS.
The Kardinals rushed for over 450 yards and eight rushing touchdowns against the Mariners.
Kenai will face a Palmer team which stands at 1-1 after two games against Division I opponents, a win against Juneau and a loss to Colony. Palmer played in the Division II state championship game in 2016 and 2017.

The SoHi Stars travel to Fairbanks to battle a Lathrop Malemutes team which is 2-0 on the season with victories over Kenai and Division I Dimond. The Malemutes (along with West Valley) are playing their first season in Division II after being re-classified by ASAA.
Friday’s game under the lights (and Northern Lights) is scheduled for an 8 p.m. game time.
SoHi totally dominated North Pole 66-19 last Friday scoring 54 points in 16 minutes and a total of 10 touchdowns. Lathrop defeated Dimond 53-16 in Fairbanks in week two.
