The Funny River Fire was in the top 5 most Googled news stories for Anchorage according to data released from the search engine earlier.
That wind driven fire began as a small 1.5 acre fire south of the Soldotna Airport and lasted for over a month and burned nearly 200,000 acres.
After some well executed evacuations and a majority of the fire contained, gratitude starting flowing for local businesses, individuals, and the firefighters who spent long hours helping with the emergency.
Tim: “There was no confusion, there was nothing. These men knew exactly what they were doing and they executed it.”
Not a single residence or life was lost during the ordeal.
