Crews initially responded to the blaze around 9 a.m. Friday morning. At this time, it is unknown what sparked the fire at a log home off of Salmon Run Dr., but crews were able to respond in time to prevent the residence from being a total loss.
“We’ve got heavy fire involvement on what we call the first floor and second floor with the roof burned through above the second floor,” said CES Deputy Fire Chief Dan Grimes. “The basement is intact. I would not call this a total loss.”
“Two different things [were] going on that required our crews to be in town. We had a kind of all-hands-on-deck training, plus we also had one of our Medical Group meetings, where we discuss EMS protocols. So, that meeting was a scheduled meeting as well. So, we had a lot of folks in the center of town; they were working on two different things,” said Deputy Chief Grimes.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, either to firefighters or residents of the home.
