Last night a community meeting was held at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road to discuss the area’s revenue sharing and top capital projects.

Borough assembly member Charlie Pierce was at the meeting and said they saw large community participation.

Asm. Pierce(Sterling): “The number one priority was playground equipment they had previously received a grant from the state for $100,000 to work on a playground for the community center and they’re looking to develop or come together with a plan similar to the playgrounds we’ve recently seen in the Soldotna community.”

He said there was a second priority for the “Hanson property” which is more long term.

Asm. Pierce(Sterling): “There’s a desire to develop that property over the next few years, it’s going to be a progressive type request, it was a $200,000 request to take care of developing that property into a community park basically along the river.”

Pierce also said the one eligible agency for Funny River, which is the Funny River Community Center, was told they would receive the $18,000.

A revenue sharing meeting will be held for the community of Sterling at 7 pm this evening at the Sterling Community Center.
