Furlong Receives Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Youth Award

The Class of 2018 for the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame was inducted during a ceremony on Tuesday at the Anchorage Museum in downtown Anchorage.

 

The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Director’s Youth Award

Brenner Furlong, Soldotna High School senior, received the first-ever Director’s Youth Award for the Trajan Landon Youth Award for Leadership, Sportsmanship and Inspiration.  Dimond junior Alissa Pili and Service senior Gus Schumacher were awarded the Pride of Alaska, Director’s Youth Award.

 

The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Class 0f 2018 includes:

Individuals: Holly Brooks, two-time Olympic nordic skier, and Virgil Hoog, volleyball coach,

Event: Arctic Winter Games

Moment: Doll Lefever becoming the first woman to conquer the Seven Summits.
