Further details have emerged after the Kenai Peninsula School District released an update in relation to Thursday’s Nikiski lockdown.

The press release stated that an internal school district investigation began Thursday morning, which resulted in a call to the Alaska State Troopers with allegations of inappropriate behavior between a teacher and a student.

According to the release, further information resulted in the district taking precautionary measures and locking down Nikiski Middle-High School and Nikiski North Star Elementary while they worked with law enforcement.

The teacher involved in the investigation is reportedly on administrative leave and school administrators along with district personnel are continuing to cooperate with the AST.

At the bottom of the press release was included the Troopers report of responding to a suicidal adult male in the Nikiski area, however the release did not clarify how the man was connected to the KPBSD investigation.

The Trooper dispatch report stated that they responded to the man who was threatening to take his own life by consuming sleeping pills and alcohol and had been at the school earlier that day.

The man is described as a white adult male with dark hair, believed to be driving a dark red, extended cab 1998 Dodge Dakota, and the release stated that the school district was still working with authorities.

We have contacted the school district and are waiting for a response about this release.
