Bubble soccer has come to the Kenai Peninsula and you may be able to rent it by the end of next week.

Andrew Carmichael: “Staff members that have tried it, that are in shape, said that after about 25 minutes of it they were like, ‘Woo! This is work’.”

Andrew Carmichael, director of Soldotna Parks and Recreation, says the department has 14 kids sized bubbles and 12 teenage/adult sized bubbles that arrived in December.

The bubble soccer equipment will be available to rent year-round on the ice rink of the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex, as well as delivered to local parks.

The Soldotna City Council will consider the department’s proposed fees for bubble soccer at their regular meeting next Wednesday, January 13.

Carmichael: “For when we’re on the ice is $240 an hour, with tax for private parties that ends up to be about $254 and hour and off ice, when the ice is out say during the spring and some of those months it’s $200 an hour. If we were to transport them to say Soldotna Creek Park or Farnsworth for a private gig it will be $300 an hour with an hour and a half minimum.”

At $240 for an hour during the winter(on the ice), that breaks down to just $20 per adult player, per hour.

Carmichael says depending on how popular the sport is, the Parks department is also considering starting an adult league.
