Gov. Mike Dunleavy joined Varney & Company on Fox Business to discuss the ongoing border restrictions between the United States and Canada. He says that the Alaska highway is a vital link for travel and commerce and that the border closure is “hugely problematic” for free movement from Alaska and the rest of the lower 48.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reports that his country’s border with the United States likely will reopen in weeks, not months. He told reporters last week that plans are moving forward that would allow Americans back into the country for the first time since March 2020. That’s when the border between both nations was closed in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Trudeau says while many Americans are vaccinated against the coronavirus, that doesn’t mean they can’t spread the illness after arriving in Canada.
The border will remain shut down to non-essential travelers till at least July 21st.
