Governor Appoints Anchorage Attorney to Superior Court

Attorney Dani Crosby was appointed to the Anchorage Superior Court today by Governor Bill Walker.

 

She will fill the seat of Judge Michael Spaan who is retiring at the end of November after servind on the Anchorage Superior Court since 2007.

 

Governor Walker issued a release saying, “Dani has been described by her colleagues as hardworking, well-reasoned, and able to evaluate a legal problem from many different perspectives.”

 

Crosby was raised in Sitka and has practiced law for nearly 20 years where she focused on employment issues, complex business disputes, and family law matters.

 

She is also the President of the Alaska Bar Foundation and a member of the Civil Rules Committee.

 

Previously Crosby nominated twice for a seat on the Anchorage Superior Court but former Governor Sean Parnell passed her over both times. At that time she said the appointment process was fair.

 

After being nominated this time by the Alaska Judicial Council and appointed by the governor today, Crosby will be one of 42 Superior Court judges in Alaska.
