Governor Dunleavy Tests Positive For COVID-19

After the news earlier this week that Governor Mike Dunleavy was informed that he encountered someone he was in close contact with on Saturday who later turned out to test positive for the coronavirus, it’s now being announced that Dunleavy has tested positive for COVID-19.

Dunleavy is currently at home with mild COVID-19 symptoms, according to a recent press release. After receiving a COVID-19 rapid test, the governor immediately went into self-isolation at his home in the Mat-Su Valley.

The initial test came back as negative Sunday morning, but by Wednesday, he tested again, and this time was positively diagnosed with the coronavirus. Because he has been in quarantine during this infectious period, there are no known close contacts at this time. The Governor is following the self-quarantine procedures set forth by the Center for Disease Control and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services by remaining at his residence for a minimum of seven days. He also will continue to fulfill his duties as Governor of Alaska by teleworking from home.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anne Zink and the Governor’s attending physician are monitoring him and will provide public details and updates as needed.
