The 2021 US Youth and Junior World Championships Team Trials closed-out competition on December 31st with final races in the Junior-Youth 7.5 Kilometer men’s and women’s classification.
Justin Hansen, age 17 and competing in Biathlon through the Kenai Biathlon, raced in the 7.5 Sprint event hosted at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center and hosted by the US Biathlon Association.
7.5K Sprint
Justin Hansen finished 32nd in a field of 33 in the 7.5K Sprint event on Friday, December 31st. Bjorn Westervelt (for a third-straight event) posted a top time; recording a time of 24:14.3. All other competitors times are calculated based on the fastest, posted time.
Hansen posted a +15:30.2 with a shooting record of 3+2 (shots missed per round).
Following the Friday races, the US Biathlon Association announced seventeen youth and junior athletes have been selected to represent Team USA at upcoming international events, including the 2022 IBU Youth/Junior World Championships in Soldier Hollow, Utah, Feb. 23-March 2.
