The hardest working city in America is found right here in Alaska, according to a consumer information website.
Wallethub says more Anchorage residents work longer hours than any other major city in the U.S.
On average, an Anchorage employee puts in 40.7 hours per week, the highest rate of any state. 79.2% of the city’s able-bodied residents hold down a steady job, which is slightly lower than in Seattle or Orlando, but not that far behind the peak in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where they boast 83% workforce participation.
Researchers also considered commute time, workers who have multiple jobs, leisure time, lack of sleep, and hours volunteered. They say that Americans now work fewer hours than previous generations, but are 400 times more productive, due to advances in technology.
However, when compared to European markets, American’s work 50% more hours.
The report was released today to recognize “national worker appreciation day.”
