At the 2025 Annual Meeting, Homer Electric Association (HEA) Board of Directors were re-elected across three districts for the second year in a row, with Furlong, Ogle, and McKittrick retaining their positions. The nine-member board, elected from three districts, sets policies and rates.
3,789 ballots were cast — 93 by mail, 3,659 electronically, and 37 in person — yielding a 14.6% participation rate among 25,945 eligible voters.
HEA CEO Brad Janorschke said he wasn’t as interested in the number of participants who voted, but instead that they are informed votes.
“What I want is the people that vote to have informed votes. I want to inform voters. I want informed votes. I’m not so much a tracker of voter participation.” Said Janorschke.
In District 1, covering Kenai, Nikiski, and Soldotna, Wayne Ogle narrowly retained his seat with 487 votes, 50.3% over Patrick Parker’s 470.
Dan Furlong was re-elected to District 2, which covers Soldotna, Sterling, and Kasilof. He won with 629 votes, 58% against Mitchell Michaud.
In District 3, covering Kasilof to Kachemak Bay, Erin McKittrick won with 1,131 votes, defeating Matthew Bullard and Rick Eckert.
Following the meeting, the Board elected Dan Furlong as President, Robert Wall as Vice-President, Jim Duffield as Secretary/Treasurer, and Wayne Ogle as Deputy Secretary.
