HEA Continues Fuse Installation Maintenance

Author: KSRM News Desk |

At the beginning of March Homer Electric Association began scheduled maintenance to replace fuses on the power lines along K-Beach Road from Kasilof to approximately Jacobs Avenue.

HEA’s Joe Gallagher…

Gallagher: “Homer Electric started in March on its fuse coordination project on K-Beach Road. As of right now, this week we’re working in approximately the mile 6 and mile 7 area and work is proceeding smoothly.”

He says unless crews are called away by unforeseen outages, the work should be completed by the end of the month.

Gallagher: “The fuse coordination project is ongoing so when we do complete the Kasilof work we will come back, take another look at our system and very likely take on another project in the fuse coordination work. What that will be and where that will be located I cannot say at this time but it is an ongoing project and I expect to continue it once we finish up our work on K-Beach.”

The work is sometimes accompanied by short power outages in whatever area is being worked on, before which crews will attempt to notify affected members.
