This month’s Kilowatt Courier from Homer Electric Association shows the utility company’s board member expenses for April through June as $18,232.

Joe Gallagher with HEA…

Gallagher: “April through June of 2015 is about right on track with what you would typically see. Our board members do receive a $250 stipend for each of the meetings that they do attend on behalf of HEA. There are also some costs associated with education courses that they take as well so again the quarter that is in the newsletter from April through June is about what you would expect.”

Board Members Dave Carey and Don Stead represented Homer Electric Association at the Northwest Public Power Association Conference.

Gallagher: “There were a couple of board members who did attend on behalf of Homer Electric the NWPPA meeting. NWPP represents the electric utilities basically on the west coast so it’s always good to have representation and the board will generally select one or two, just one or two members to represent HEA at those meetings.”

Gallagher says HEA works to keep its costs transparent for customers by regularly publishing those expense reports.
