Homer Electric Association members may see a rate decrease beginning January 1, 2015.
According to Joe Gallgher with HEA part of the cost reduction was a result of increased low cost energy production by the Bradley Lake hydroelectric project due to high water levels in the last quarter of 2014.
Gallagher: “HEA’s Cost of Power Adjustment, which reflects fuel costs, is adjusted quarterly, so for the first quarter of 2015, we will see a 1.2 cent decrease in the kilowatt hour charge and this will result in the average monthly bill for an HEA member who uses about 630 kilowatt hours per month, they will see a savings of about $8.15 per month due to the reduction.”
As long as HEA’s filing with the Regulatory Commisssion of Alaska is approved the adjustment will go into affect January 1, 2015.
