Nearly all of the power outages caused by strong winds across the Kenai Peninsula have been repaired by Homer Electric Association throughout Wednesday.
Joe Gallagher with HEA…
Gallagher: “As of about 5 o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, Homer Electric have basically restored all the services that were affected by the wind storm that hit the peninsula earlier. Our crews were busy from about 10 pm last night, all through the night, into the morning hours and all through today.”
The exception is the Seldovia area, where reports of 100 mile per hour winds Tuesday night caused a lot of damage.
Gallagher: “Our crew worked in Seldovia all day today but we still have several members that do not have power. And we expect that it might be several days actually before we can complete that restoration. We have trees down on power lines and just a lot of damaged equipment. So we’ll be back in Seldovia working all day tomorrow, we’ll bring all available crew and hopefully get it repaired just as soon as possible.”
As for the Central Kenai Peninsula, winds like those seen last night are not expected to return Wednesday night.
