The public is welcome to attend the first Kenai Peninsula Borough’s Healthcare Task Force meeting on Wednesday.
Borough Mayor Mike Navarre proposed the task force last February, earning the Assembly’s approval for $200,000 for consulting and investigation…
Mayor Navarre: “What I’d like to have them focus on initially is looking at the two hospital service areas, Central Peninsula Hospital service area and South Peninsula Hospital service area and then looking at health care on a borough wide basis, whether or not those service areas should be combined or whether we should look at adopting hospital powers or health care powers on a borough wide basis so that we can have some uniformity in the different communities across the borough.”
At the group’s first meeting, they will set an ongoing meeting schedule, discuss timelines, further define the scope of work and identify the resources they will need to complete their investigation into current practices and costs.
The task force meeting will be open to the public next Wednesday, August 19th, at 7pm in the Borough Assembly Chambers.
The membership is comprised of borough administration, assembly members, doctors, and hospital administration who will work to find efficiency for the Kenai Peninsula healthcare system.
After the initial meeting in August a list of scheduled dates will be published.
