The Kenai Peninsula Borough has announced 12 members so far for the Healthcare Task Force.
Mayor Mike Navarre said members are working to find a convenient date for the initial organizational meeting, tentatively scheduled for August.
KPB Mayor Navarre: “What I intend and will advance to the task force, the first part is to whether or not it makes sense to one, either combine the service areas or adopt health powers on a borough wide basis. That is the first question we need to answer because I think it lays the groundwork and the framework for implementing real reforms on a borough wide basis. Then we’ll be looking at different types of reform and how services will be delivered, etc.”
The task force will have up to 17 members and the borough is waiting to hear from two specific residents on whether or not they are available for those task force meetings.
The membership is comprised of borough administration, assembly members, doctors, and hospital administration who will work to find efficiency for the Kenai Peninsula healthcare system.
After the initial meeting in August a list of scheduled dates will be published.
