Homer Electric Association will be conducting maintenance in areas of Sterling beginning Monday that will require power outages.

HEA’s Joe Gallagher…

Gallagher: “Beginning on Monday, November 9, Homer Electric Association is going to begin making some permanent repairs in the Sterling area by replacing power poles that were damaged in the Card Street Fire. The fire occurred, as everybody remembers, back in June and Homer Electric was able to make temporary repairs and power obviously has been restored but we’re going to go back and make some permanent repairs and replace 22 power poles.”

He says any members that will be affected by the outages will be notified by HEA’s automated caller system.

Gallagher: “We expect the outages will be brief, they could be anywhere from 30 minutes up to two hours, the length of the outage will depend on the conditions where the specific poles are being replaced. We expect that we’ll have all 22 poles replaced and the job finished up by the end of the month.”
