The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce announced Heidi Sorrell as its new Executive Director.
Her vision for the chamber is for it to be the heartbeat of the community- where businesses, residents, and visitors are all interconnected through dynamic partnerships and shared growth.
“I aim to cultivate an ecosystem where local businesses not only flourish but also innovate. Beyond economic success, I envision the chamber becoming a cultural nexus that highlights the Kenai Peninsula’s natural beauty, unique charm, and rich heritage, creating experiences that attract and engage people from near and far.”
Sorrell was interested in the opportunity to make a tangible, lasting impact on the community. “Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula hold a special place in my heart, and the chance to serve as a catalyst for local businesses and regional growth was something I couldn’t pass up.”
She states that the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce functions as both a resource and a connector to the community, collaborating with businesses in a spirit that encourages professional and personal growth.
“From signature events like Soldotna Progress Days to the chamber’s unwavering support for local businesses, it’s clear that the chamber is a pillar of our community. I especially appreciate how the chamber advocates for its members and provides a platform to amplify their voices in broader conversations—because when local businesses thrive, the whole community thrives.” Sorrell says.
Sorrell is eager to face the challenges of blending fresh, creative ideas with the chamber’s time-honored traditions. She says it’s a unique opportunity to foster connections, inspire innovation, and “elevate what’s already fantastic in this beautiful corner of Alaska.”
