High School Football Opens Regular Season: Kenai, SoHi & Nikiski At Home

The 2024 high school football season-opening weekend offers home games for the three central peninsula high schools.

 

Soldotna Stars

Northern Lights Conference Soldotna Stars will host the Palmer Moose for a Division II pairing.  The Stars defeated the Moose in 2023 by a score of 76-7. The Stars were the 2023 Division II State Champions with a win against the Lathrop Malemutes 64-14.

The Soldotna Stars have nine Division II state championships, winning eight straight from 2012 to 2019 (there was no championship in 2020 due to COVID-19).

 

Kenai Kardinals

The Mid-Alaska Conference Kardinals open at home against the Homer Mariners.  Kenai was crowned the 2023 DIII State Champions with a win over Barrow Whalers, 20 – 8.

 

Nikiski Bulldogs

The Nikiski Bulldogs open play against the Seward Seahawks at home for the 2024 season. The Bulldogs finished the 2023 season in second place with an overall record of 8-2.
