Early morning chase in Nikiski reaches speeds of over 100 miles-per-hour.
Troopers attempted to stop a white Ford truck driven by 21-year-old Michael Meyers of Nikiski on the Kenai Spur Highway near the intersection of South Miller Loop Road for speeding 92 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.
According to report, the truck failed to stop for Alaska State Troopers and attempted to elude, reaching speeds of up to 120 MPH while traveling on the Kenai Spur Highway, Island Lake Road, and Hold Lamplight road.
A tire deflation device was used to stop Meyers’ vehicle on Holt Lamplight Road at the intersection with the Kenai Spur Highway. The truck reportedly continued heading south on the highway, and due to the front tires deflating and coming apart, the truck couldn’t turn onto Island Lake Road when it drove into the ditch and became stuck.
Meyers was arrested and found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence and other criminal charges.
He is held without bail pending arraignment at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
