Hilcorp Alaska, LLC has submitted a Lease Plan of Operations Permit Application to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources in January, requesting authorization to begin the exploration phase of the Whiskey Gulch project near Anchor Point.
The Division of Oil and Gas, under the Department of Natural Resources provided a public notice and an opportunity to comment, according to an online public notice from earlier this week.
The location is approximately three miles northeast of Anchor Point.
Hilcorp requested authorization to initiate the exploration phase of the Whiskey Gulch project, including the construction of a 2.75 gravel pad located at the end of Cape Ninilchik Avenue, one mile east of the Sterling Highway. The Texas-based company plans to drill one gas-only and one gas/oil exploration well for a depth of 10,000 feet. The drilling will happen at the new Whiskey Gulch gravel pad with no permanent infrastructure, facilities, or equipment proposed as of now.
The proposed construction is scheduled to begin March 15, 2021 and will be followed by drilling activities beginning on June 1, 2021. Drilling could potentially last till early September 2021.

The deadline to submit comments is 4:30 p.m. March 4, 2021. The proposed development will be authorized under AS 38.05 and 11 AAC 83.158.
