The first conference opponent of the season for the Soldotna Stars and a non-divisional contest for the Kenai Kardinals spotlights week five of the high school football regular season.  The Nikiski Bulldogs have a bye for week five.

 

Friday Night Football

SoHi vs Chugiak @ SoHi    6 p.m.    ESPN 1140AM, 96.9FM and radiokenai.com

The Soldotna Stars will face their first Northern Lights Conference opponent with the Chugiak Mustangs traveling to SoHi to battle the Stars at Justin Maile Field on Friday, September 9th with the varsity game set for a 6 p.m. kick-off.

The Stars are scheduled for four-straight NLC contests beginning with the Mustangs.   SoHi has dominated the early season with 211 points through four games, averaging over 52 points per game with wins over North Pole, Service, West Valley and South.  All SoHi wins have come against schools with larger enrollment, two wins are against Division I programs.

Chugiak stands at 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in Northern Lights Conference play.  The Mustangs have recorded wins over West Valley and Palmer and losses to Wasilla and Lathrop.

 

Saturday Football

Kenai vs Kodiak @ KCHS    4 p.m.  ESPN 1140AM, 96.9FM and radiokenai.com

The Kenai Kardinals look to add a third victory of the season with the Division II Railbelt Conference Kodiak Bears coming to Ed Hollier Field n Saturday, September 10th.  Game time is re-scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday kick-off at KCHS.

Kenai stands at 2-2 on the regular season with wins over Eielson and DII Palmer.  Kenai’s offense is averaging 22 points per game.

The Kodiak Bears own a 0-3 regular season record.

 

Nikiski Football

The Bulldogs have an off-week with the loss of the Valdez football program.  The Bulldogs look to fill a vacancy in week six as well.
