Homer Electric Association (HEA) issued a release on Friday to ensure members know that they are still focused on providing the critical and essential electric service to all members during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.
While their offices are closed to the public, our employees continue to assist members, maintain the electric grid and restore power when necessary.
Bruce Shelley, Member Relations with HEA, offers details on what this means to members: “I just wanted to reach out and remind everyone that Homer Electric is still out there providing safe, reliable power to our members. In doing that, you’re going to see our essential services like linemen, meter readers, meter technicians out there in the field. Those meter readers coming up to your house to read meters, we just ask that you practice social distancing and not approach them, and they won’t approach you either. Again, we’re out there in the community doing our job to keep you in-power during this time.”
The release states that the HEA team is continuously monitoring the situation and remains ready to respond. As utilities are a critical workforce designated by Governor Dunleavy, HEA is committed to providing reliable electric service during this pandemic. They advise following any updates on HEA activities via their website. They can also be found on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
