A 43-year-old Homer man is facing serious felony charges after Alaska State Troopers say he confessed to sexually abusing multiple underage daughters, then became suicidal while armed with a handgun on his property.

According to a sworn affidavit filed by Trooper Elizabeth Jordan, the investigation began on the morning of June 14 when a woman contacted AST dispatch. She reported that her husband, Jamin Miller, had admitted to molesting their daughters and was in a shed behind their home near North Fork Road, armed with a 10mm handgun and expressing suicidal intent.

Troopers from Soldotna and Anchor Point, along with investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, responded and attempted to establish communication. Miller’s wife gathered the couple’s children and left the property.

During the standoff, Miller’s brother, Jarod, arrived unannounced. Despite warnings from law enforcement, he entered the shed, found Jamin armed, and convinced him to surrender. Jarod disarmed him, removed the magazine from the pistol, and placed him in handcuffs he had brought from home. Troopers then took Jamin into custody without incident.

According to investigators, the abuse first came to light when one of the daughters, age 17, confronted her father over the phone. She later disclosed in a forensic interview that Miller had sexually abused her from the ages of 9 to 15. Allegations include repeated incidents of digital penetration, forced oral sex, attempted intercourse, and exposure to pornography.

Another daughter, age 14, also disclosed sexual abuse, including being forced to touch her father during an encounter when they were alone in the house. A third daughter, now 19, told their mother she too had been abused, although she declined to share specific details at that time.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the family’s home and located a firearm, Miller’s phone, and several items matching descriptions provided by one of the victims—including bottles of lotion found in a bedroom nightstand.

Court records show the abuse allegedly occurred over a period of approximately seven years and ceased only after one of the older daughters confronted Miller when she was 16.

Miller is charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree, and Incest. Troopers confirmed that he is the biological father of the victims involved.

As of Monday, Miller remains in custody. A court date for his next hearing has not yet been announced
