The Homer Mariners, 1-2-3A state wrestling champions in 2015, grappled to the team title at the 2016 Homer Round Robin Rumble at Homer High School. The Mariners also hosted the Homer Rumble Duals on Friday at Homer High School.
Homer Rumble Duals
Houston defeated Soldotna 43-29, Nikiski defeated Voznesenka 60-18, Homer defeated Kenai 57-6, Soldotna defeated Nikiski 49-30, Redington defeated Voznesenka 24-23, Homer defeated Soldotna 58-15, Houston defeated Kenai 54-27 and Homer’s junior varsity defeated Voznesenka 36-21.
Homer Round Robin Rumble
The Mariners earned the team title with 238 points followed by Houston, SoHi, Kenai, and Nikiski.
The Soldotna Stars placed a pair of individual champions: Gideon Hutchison at 120 pounds and Bechler Metcalf in the 152-pound weight class. The Kardinals Jacob Anderson won the 145-pound division and Nikiski’s Tyler Litke topped the 220-pound weight class.
