A packed Homer Theatre saw a private screening of Disney Nature’s movie “Bears” last night, all of which was filmed in Alaska over the past two years.

Shanon Hamrick with the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council spoke with us about being invited to the screening.

Hamrick: “So it was really exciting to see the culmination of this movie brought to the big screen, we’ve known members who have been assisting the Disney production crew for the past two years so to get to go down there and see it with people who actually helped bring it to life a whole day before it was going to be released to the general public, it was a pretty special feeling.”

Hamrick said she thinks that Alaskans will be proud of the movie.

Hamrick: “I would think that the Alaskans will just be really proud that we have these types of opportunities here, really right out our back door. And we’re really excited about the recognition we’re going to get because almost this entire movie was filmed on the Kenai Peninsula, it was filmed in Hallo Bay and Chinitna Bay.”
