The Kenai Central High School Job Shadow program reveals a new trend in job seekers. Chamber Executive Director Johna Beech said one employer was especially popular…

Beech: “So we’ve got 17 students going over to the hospital that are pursuing medical careers, anywhere from anesthesiologist to RNs. We have 7 kids going to Tesoro, anywhere from petroleum engineers to operators. We do have EMTs, Police Department, we have a politician this year, which is the first we’ve had in a while.”

Kenai Mayor Pat Porter will be the hosting politician.

Beech said 110 Kenai Juniors are participating next week. Former KCHS graduate Mike Crawford will be the guest speaker at next Wednesday’s job shadow lunch…

Beech: “He went outside for schooling and had a couple of adventures and came back about four years ago to our community. He’s a great story of what it’s like to be raised in Kenai, graduate from Kenai, go outside, spread your wings, fly, and then come back to raise your family here.”
