The Soldotna City Council will introduce a resolution that would  include $50,000 into the 2014-15 budget on a one time basis in order to keep the Skyview Pool in operation for one year.

Last week CEO Rick Davis confirmed the Central Peninsula Hospital will contribute as well.

Davis: “The Hospital has agreed to contribute some towards that, we’re working with Dr. Atwater to finalize a few details on what we’ll contribute but it sounds like there’s probably enough to keep them going for this year and then it gives the borough and the school district a year to look at a longer term solutions about how they might keep that open.”

The resolution specifies the $50,000 will be included into Soldotna’s budget on certain conditions and that the funding and contract with the school district will be open to further public hearing.

As we previously reported, Mayor Nels Anderson introduced the idea in March as a way to give the school district a year to come up with its own funding to keep the pool open.
