House Finance introduces New Budget Funding Bill

New legislation has been introduced by the House Finance Committee but the House Minority Leader Chris Tuck says he doesn’t feel any closer to a budget deal.

With just days to go before state workers might be issued notices of layoffs, the committee introduced House Bill 2002; that would authorize accounting maneuvers involving the Permanent Fund earnings reserve and a student scholarship fund to provide easier access to the budget reserve if the three-quarter vote to access the budget reserve fails.

Previously, House Speaker Mike Chenault(R-District 29) stated…

Rep. Chenault: “It’s a little frustrating that we don’t have a budget out there yet that’s fully funded but we’re continuing to work on it with the Minority and with the Senate Majority and the governor and try to come to an agreement that allows us to fully fund the 2016 budget and let the legislature go home to see their constituents.”

House Minority Leader Chris Tuck stated he does not feel like much movement has been made over the past month, despite efforts between Tuck and Chenault to come to an agreement.
