Standing members of the House Finance Committee have scheduled three meetings to discuss Medicaid this week.
Those members will meet at the Anchorage Legislative Information Office beginning 3 pm Monday to review the topic of reform in House Bill 148, the governor’s bill on Medicaid reform and expansion for Alaska.
House Finance is slated to take up the bill which includes issues such as legal cases and the implementation process for expanded Medicaid on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, amidst scheduled Joint Legislative Budget and Audit Committees.
The legislature was called into special session after passing an operating budget but failing to gain enough supportive votes in order to make the necessary draws to fund it.
Governor Bill Walker also added Medicaid and sexual assault awareness and education to the list of items for the legislature to address.
