This week, the House used the Congressional Review Act to roll back the burdensome tax on natural gas—a tax implemented by the Biden Administration that stifled energy development. Congressman Begich issued the following statement after the House passed House Joint Resolution 35: Repealing the Biden Administration’s Tax on Natural Gas.
“House Republicans took a critical step toward strengthening American energy security by repealing the Biden Administration’s natural gas tax. For Alaska, this decision is significant. This misguided tax did nothing to reduce emissions but instead punished American producers, drove up costs, and made our nation more dependent on foreign energy. Energy production is the backbone of economic growth—supporting good-paying jobs in oil and gas, construction, transportation, and beyond. By reversing this harmful tax, House Republicans have reaffirmed our commitment to American energy independence and affordability.
