The Houston Hawks, defending Division II state champions, closed the Peninsula Ice Challenge with a 10-0 victory over the Tri-Valley Warriors on Saturday to claim the Ice Challenge championship for 2022.
SoHi 5 – Kenai 1
The Soldotna Stars finished 2-1 in tournament play with a 5-1 victory over the Kenai Kardinals on Saturday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
Kenai opened the scoring with an Avery Martin goal just 3:33 into the first period. SoHi’s Jace Appelhans tied the game with a goal a 11:44 of the first period.
The Stars added two second period goals for a 3-1 advantage. Boone Theiler scored just :30 seconds into the period and Appelhans added a goal at 11:47 of the period. Two additional, third period goals were scored by Dawson Lockwood and Theiler. Kenai goalie Evyn Witt recorded 14 saves on 19 shots; SoHi’s Jackson Purcell totaled 20 saves. Final Score: SoHi 5 – Kenai 1
