Houston Hockey Halts SoHi Offense

The Houston Hawks continue to control play in the Railbelt Conference opening the road weekend swing for SoHi and Kenai with a 5-2 victory over the Stars on Thursday at the Big Lake Recreation Center.

 

Houston 5 – SoHi 2

Following a scoreless first period, the Hawks jumped-out to a 3-0 second period lead with Daniel Matveev scoring all three Houston goals.  SoHi’s Josh O’Lena scored late in the period and Dylan Dahlgren added a goal mid-way through the third period to draw the Stars close at 3-2 Houston.  Matveev finished the period with two additional goals for the 5-2 Houston win and a five-goal, hat-trick for Matveev.

SoHi was outshot 14 to 37 by the Hawks with SoHi goaltender Ayden See recording 32 saves.

 

Palmer 2, Homer 1, OT

The Homer Mariners again battled into overtime and again fell short in extra-time.  The Palmer Moose scored a 2-1 overtime Railbelt Conference victory over the Mariners in Thursday’s game at the MTA Center in Palmer.
