The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank held its 20th annual Soup, Supper, and Auction event on Saturday and had hundreds of people attend the event to eat soup and donate money, as well as items, to fight hunger on the peninsula.
Special Events Coordinator, Phil Smith…
Smith: “We had lots of donations for both the silent auction, the live auction, and also just people just donating to us, even in cash.”
Although the official numbers of attendee’s and profit made to provide food to the community this winter won’t be available for a few more weeks, the Soup, Supper, and Auction creates thousands of meals. Executive Director, Linda Swarner…
Swarner: “The funds raised at the event will feed people throughout the Kenai Peninsula Borough, which is our service area, and that will create over 800,000 meals a year.”
The next event the food bank has planned is Clash of the Culinary Kings, which Phil says can be expected to happen in April.
