Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Police and Fire seized illegal drugs after receiving word that an unidentified individual was traveling to Alaska with drugs on November 26th. Upon their arrival, Airport Police contacted the individual and seized 15 vacuum packed 1.1lb bags of marijuana with a total weight of over 18 lbs. After failure to show proper documentation and having well over the legal weight limit in tow, the unnamed individual was arrested, and the marijuana was seized.

Earlier in the week, Airport Police contacted an inbound passenger traveling to a small Alaska community under suspicion of carrying an illegal load. A subsequent investigation led to the seizure of $10,007 dollars in cash and 115 grams of crystalline substance, consistent with methamphetamine.

The Ted Stevens Anchorage Airport Police and Fire Department aims to keep illegal drugs from entering Alaska and from passing into communities via air traffic. They want the public to know that the airport will not be a hub for illegal drug trafficking.
