Jacoby Finishes Runner-Up In 100M Breaststroke At 2020 U.S. Open

Lydia Jacoby from Seward, one of Alaska’s top swimmers,  passed on the Kenai Peninsula Swimming Championships to compete at the 2020 Toyota U.S. Open Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

 

Great decision!

 

Lydia Jacoby finished second in the women’s 100M Breaststroke posting her fastest time of the season and finishing just .07 seconds behind national champion Anna Elendt of the University of Texas.

Jacoby (age 16) raced to a 1:07.57 time for runner-up and improved on her personal seed time of 1:08.12.

 

The 2020 Toyota U.S. Open was competed at nine regional venues from Beaverton, Ore and Irvine Ca. on the west coast to Sarasota, Fl. on the east coast. Results from each site were combined by USA Swimming and published in a comprehensive results report.

 

Jacoby and champion Elendt both swam at the 2020 Toyota US Open Championships-San Antonio location providing a head-to-head battle in the 100M Breaststroke at the North East ISD Blossom Athletic Complex in San Antonio.  The women’s 100M Breaststroke featured an overall field of 121 swimmers, each qualifying for the championships.

 

On Saturday at the US Open Championships, Jacoby finished 13th in the 200M Breaststroke posting a time of 2:32.36.
