Lydia Jacoby will add Alaska Girls Most Outstanding Swimmer and two state swimming individual championships to her 2021 swim resume’ with her performances at the 2021 ASAA Alaska State Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Bartlett Pool in Anchorage.
Jacoby opened with a victory in the 200IM in a time of 2:05.7, finishing three seconds faster than her 2:08.9 prelim time. She followed up with a gold medal and new state record in the 100 Breaststroke posting a time of 59.66, breaking her own state record of 1:00.61 set in 2019 (all state records must be set at the state meet).
Homer’s Jillian Crooks won the 200 Freestyle and set an Alaska state record posting a record time of 1:49.85. Crooks also won the 100 Freestyle in 50.70. Crooks swam in the Tokyo Olympics representing the Cayman Islands. Crooks path to the Alaska state swim meet included covid protocols and a past relationship with Homer head swim coach Caleb Miller. Miller, while living in the Cayman Islands, taught Jillian Crooks to swim when Crooks was five-years-old. When Crooks completed competition in Tokyo she was unable to immediately return to the Caymans due to issues with covid testing. Miller arranged for Crooks to continue her training and swim for Homer High School. ASAA approved the paperwork–Crooks is an Alaska state champion.

Koda Poulin finished 6th in the boys 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:03.04.
