Lydia Jacoby, a 17-year-old from Seward, Alaska, continued her impressive performance at the US Olympic Swimming Trials in the Women’s 100M Breaststroke with a semi-final heat victory which qualifies Jacoby to the 100M Breaststroke finals scheduled for 4:43 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15th at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.

Jacoby is striving to become the first Alaskan swimmer to qualify to a Summer Olympics as a member of Team USA.

Jacoby won the first heat of two in the semi-finals on Thursday evening, posting a personal-best time of 1:05.71, which ranks her fourth in the world for 2021.  Lydia Jacoby rallied from a slow start, fourth off the blocks, and never led until the final 25 meters.

Jacoby will be among eight finalists, which include World Record & American Record holder Lilly King.  King posted a 1:04.7 to win the second, semi-final and holds the fastest time for the 100M Breaststroke for 2021.

The finals in the Women’s 100M Breaststroke are scheduled for 4:53 p.m. Alaska Time.

The top two finishers in the finals qualify to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.  Side Note: The top four women, worldwide, in the breaststroke are all Americans; however, only two can represent the USA in Tokyo.
