Joint Work Session Aims for “No Surprises” in KPBSD Budget

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly and School Board held a joint budget work session on March 17.

Board member Tim Navarre…

Navarre: “It was really going over the numbers so that you don’t surprise people.”

He said that they updated the borough assembly on reasons why the district will need to be ‘funded to the cap’ this year.

Navarre: “There’s a lot of things happening in the state; the governor took out the one time funding, he also reduced the base allocation adjustment also by a small percentage but all of that has an affect.”

As we presviously reported, the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s budget is still in limbo based on variables like how much the borough will allocate; however, one of the worst possible situations is an $8 million deficit.
