Journey Miller, Soldotna High School senior and starting forward for the SoHi Stars hockey team, has committed to play Division I hockey for the Mankato Mavericks in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association for the 2020-21 college hockey season.

Journey earned varsity letters for the Stars for three seasons and was a major contributor to SoHi’s back-to-back Railbelt Conference championships (2019-2020) and a Division II state hockey championships runner-up finish in 2020.

Journey will play for the Minnesota State University, Mankato located in Mankato, Minnesota.

The Minnesota State women’s hockey team finished the season with a 11-20-6 record, the first double digit win season since the 2013-14.  The Mavericks also finished sixth in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, holding a 4-16-4-3 record which included a 3-1 win over the then-#1 Wisconsin Badgers.

Indy Walton, SoHi Hockey head coach…..
“Journey scored 11 goals and had 11 assists, for a total of 22pts. She helped lead SoHi to a second place finish at the Palmer Invitational, a second place finish at Homer End of the Road Tournament, back to back conference titles, and a second place finish at the state tournament. I couldn’t be more excited for her. She is one of the top female athlete’s in the state. It has been my pleasure to have coached her the last three years. We are all excited for her.”
