U.S. District Court Judge H. Russel Holland has negated two subpoenas against two groups that were critical of the proposed Pebble Mine.
The Pebble Limited Partnership is suing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, asserting the EPA worked with mine critics with a predetermined goal to block the project.
Pebble sought documents from the Alaska Conservation Foundation and Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association related to communications they had with EPA and others about the project, both of which are not a party to the case.
The federal judge indicated Pebble should be able to get what the requested information from EPA documents by pursuing discovery from the EPA.
Pebble spokesman Mike Heatwole says the pro-mine group served around 60 subpoenas earlier this year, mostly to organizations.
