Juneau Rallies For Third-Straight Legion Baseball Championship

The Juneau Midnight Suns battled through two championship day games for a record third-straight Alaska Legion Baseball State Championship defeating South 5-4 in extra innings to advance to a championship game victory over Wasilla 13-8.

 

Juneau 5 – South 4  8 innings

The Midnight Suns rallied from a 2-0 early deficit against South to tie the game at 4-4.  In the eighth inning, Juneau scores to advance to the title game.

 

Juneau 13 – Wasilla 8

In the championship game, Juneau trailed the #1 seed Wasilla Road Warriors 5-1 after three innings and trailed 7-5 after five innings.  Juneau’s offense pounded out three runs in the sixth and took the lead 8-7, en route to the 13-8 championship game victory and the third state championship.  Juneau handed Wasilla its only losses of the tournament.

 

Juneau advances to the Northwest Regional scheduled for next week in Lewiston, Idaho.
