The K-Beach High Water Drainage Task Force is looking toward more ways to educate the public on what’s been happening in the years since the 2013 flooding while they wait on permits for a few projects.
Hydrogeologist Jim Munter has been a linchpin in the task force and said they are looking to make a video.
Munter: “Part of what the task force is all about is public education about what’s happened and where we are So the video would be a tool to increase public awareness of the work that we’re doing and what the need is.”
The idea is still preliminary but Munter said a volunteer who is willing to help with the production will be at tonight’s meeting to talk more about it.
Also on the agenda is reviewing the multiple projects waiting for approval from the Department of Natural Resources.
Munter said the installation of a culvert at the Lori Jo Street and Scott Ave intersection is one of their top priorities but recently a member of borough administration wrote to DNR advising against that idea; the recap of that is up for discussion.
The non-profit known as the K-Beach Flood Mitigation Project will also provide an overview of the permits they are waiting on from DNR for the Seventh Street Water Conveyance Structure.
The task force’s meeting will begin at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association Building off of K-Beach at 6 pm tonight(April 27).
