The Kenai Kardinal boys soccer team capped an undefeated run through the post-season with the 2018 ASAA Division II State Soccer championship, shutting-out Juneau-Douglas 3-0 in the tournament’s title game on Saturday at Service High School.
The newly-formed Division II crowned its initial champions with the Kenai boys and the Juneaui-Douglas girls winning the team titles. The Soldotna girls finished third with a Saturday victory over Palmer 1-0. The Kardinal girls finish play on Friday with a 2-0 win over North Pole. The boys and girls state Division II tournament qualifies only six teams and awards the top two seeds byes in the opening round.

The Kardinal boys record a 3-0 shut out in the Division II soccer championship game over the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears.

The Kardinal boys advanced to the championship following a Friday, semi-final victory over the Homer Mariners 2-0.
Soldotna Girls 1 – Palmer 0 3rd Place Game (Saturday)
SoHi’s Journey Miller netted a game-winning, penalty kick for the only goal in the Stars 1-0 victory over Palmer in the 3rd place game.
Kenai Girls 2 – North Pole 0 4th Place Game (Friday)
Olivia Brewer and Liz Hanson scored for the Kardinal girls and Kailey Hamilton recorded a 2-0 shut out in goal for Kenai.
The Soldotna girls earned the Academic Award with a 3.65 grade-point average.
