Kardinal Girls Win Nome Tournament: Kenai Boys Fall In Championship Game

Both Kenai basketball teams entered Saturday’s championship games at the Nome Subway Basketball Tournament with 2-0 records facing the Nome Nanooks for the tournament title.

The Kenai girls defeated Nome 38-26 in the final; the Kenai boys fell to Nome 53-44 in the championship game.

 

Kenai Girls 38- Nome 26

Emma Beck led the Kardinals to a 38-26 victory over Nome and finished tournament play 3-0.  Beck scored 24 points in the final and was named tournament MVP.  Kenai’s Chloe Goldsby was named to the all-tournament team and the Kenai girls were awarded the Sportsmanship Award.

Kenai Boys 26 – Nome 38

The Kenai boys struggled to score in the championship game dropping the final 38-26 to Nome.  Nome pulled-away with a fourth quarter run.  Kenai’s Jakob Kvasnikoff scored 19 points and was named to the all-tournament team.
